Dart the Dart Foodie Fun Run Postponed
Following the Government’s new public health guidance regarding avoiding social contact and stopping non-essential travel, and its statement that emergency services are withdrawn from supporting mass gatherings, Dartmouth Food Festival has decided that it is no longer appropriate to stage its Dart the Dart event on 16 May 2020.
Dartmouth Food Festival, which puts on multiple fundraising events in the build up to the big weekend at the end of October, had been assessing the feasibility of the multi-terrain culinary adventure that was to raise vital funds for the 18th annual Festival, but the latest government information on the measures needed to contain the virus has led it to believe this is no longer a viable consideration.
Alison Timms, Race Director said: “The deadline for entry to Dart the Dart was just under three weeks away and it’s very clear to us it will not be possible for the event to take place. Public health must come first. I know this is hugely disappointing news for the many people who have already bought their tickets, and for the businesses that had all agreed to supply our runners with delicious food and drink offerings, but very sadly these are exceptional times and this is the responsible thing to do.”
Alison added: “All entry tickets will remain valid for next year’s race (planned for the 15th May 2021) or if runners would prefer a full refund please contact us at office@dartmouthfoodfestival.co.uk with the order number so that we can process the payment.”
