ANNUAL FUND-RAISING EVENTS

Throughout the year, we plan a variety of exciting Festival-related events.  These typically include formal cocktail parties and dinners through to a family-oriented chilli/curry competition for local pubs and restaurants, gin tasting workshops with our sponsors Salcombe Gin, and themed events with our local school, the Dartmouth Academy.  These are an important way to raise money for Festival itself (which each year costs us £100,000 to put on) and are an enjoyable way to engage in the subject of food and drink.  They are also an opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones.   We turn a fresh eye to the programme each year, and always have something new and different.  For example, in May 2021, we are planning our first ever 13-mile Dart the Dart Run with, of course, foodie stops along the route to add to the fun and to keep the Festival focus alive and well.

If you would like to be kept up-to-date with news about forthcoming events then do please register for our newsletter. We also publicise events through this website and extensively via social media.  Tickets can be booked easily through this website.

We are always looking for people to help develop new ideas, drive ticket sales, and to roll up their sleeves and help in practical ways, so do please get in touch with us if you would like to volunteer.

EVENTS OVER THE FESTIVAL WEEKEND

What makes the Dartmouth Food Festival so special is the wide range of events, parties and tastings we offer over the three days and nights of the Festival itself.   We change the offer each year, but we always aim to have a programme which appeals to experienced and knowledgeable ‘foodies’, visitors from outside our area, and to those who want to hone their culinary basics.  We ensure that some events are free of charge.

There are talks, discussions, practical demonstrations and masterclasses from a wide range of professional chefs, experts and local producers.  We also organise hands-on food preparation workshops on subjects as diverse as pasta and pie-making, gin and wine tasting events with our sponsors (Salcombe Gin and Michael Sutton Cellars), and a specific competition for home cooks.  With these events, we are delighted to have the involvement of many well-known  ‘national’ names such as Mitch Tonks of The Seahorse Restaurant and Rockfish, and wine-writer & expert, Will Lyons.

In addition to those organised directly by the Festival team, many of our restaurant partners aim to offer something very special for their diners on each day of the Festival weekend.

For most events, you will need to book in advance.  Many sell out early, so do please keep up-to-date by subscribing to our newsletter - look out for links on social media.  Tickets are available from this website from early September in each year.
