Which are the best days to come to Dartmouth?
Please check the Events page for details of each day but worth highlighting that Thursday is our children’s festival. The main days to visit are Friday (South Embankment & Avenue Gardens only), Saturday and Sunday where there'll be a wide array of market stalls, celebrity chef demonstrations and other activity going on. If you'd like to go to any of the planned evening events (some earlier in the week) then you may need to book tickets in advance.
Can we bring children?
Yes, yes, yes – we love them! Thursday, 25th October is specifically for young 'uns so take a look at Events & Exhibitors. Worth adding that this event is primarily for local schools but, if you're a visitor with children, then you're very welcome to attend, space permitting.
On Saturday 27th Alex MacKay will host 'Wake up and Cook with Alex Mackay'. Especially for children and young families this will be an inspiring hour of demonstrations, chat and your questions answered by an expert who has regularly worked with Raymond Blanc and Delia Smith.9:30, Saturday 27th, Flavel Hall, free to enter.
Should we book accommodation now?Yes – it's the start of Half Term, so it'll be chock-a-block in Dartmouth over the Festival weekend. Visit www.discoverdartmouth.com, www.bluechipholidays.com, www.coastandcountry.co.uk or visitsouthdevon.co.uk for a full list of available accommodation.
What's the parking like?
Pretty good – go to Parking for full information (as provided by Dartmouth Information Centre).
Who's exhibiting?
We've listed everyone in alphabetical order on the Events & Exhibitors page. As you can imagine, things do change on a daily basis but we'll do our best to update the site regularly.
Should I book a restaurant now?
Yes, we strongly recommend it as most Dartmouth restaurants will be booked up well in advance of the food festival, particularly The Seahorse, The Angel, Browns Hotel, The Apprentice, The Royal Castle Hotel and Annabelles Kitchen. Remember that it's also the start of the Half Term break, so another reason to ensure you've booked. Go to Restaurants for our list of recommended restaurants in Dartmouth and the surrounding area.
Will I be able to buy evening event tickets when I get to Dartmouth?
Yes - but we strongly recommend that you buy well in advance as they usually fly out of the door on release. Go to Tickets & Merchandise to see what's bookable in advance.
