Cafe Alf Resco scoop Double Gold!!

Kate Ryder from Café Alf Resco in Dartmouth has won Double Gold in this year’s International Marmalade Awards held at Dalemain in Cumbria. Kate scooped eviivo’s prize for the best marmalade made to go with a traditional cooked breakfast with their ‘Dark & Stormy’ marmalade, a fresh tasting product with hints of lime, ginger and rum in the Hotel, B&B and restaurant section of the awards. As a previous winner of Gold, Silver and Bronze at the 2015 and 2016 awards, Kate also won a Silver for her Devon Heaven and Spanish Love marmalades.

Kate said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won a Double Gold for the Dark & Stormy marmalade. Although we have won in the past, it was the first time that we had actually attended the Award ceremony and it was great to meet other artisan marmalade makers from all over the world.” 

Jane Hasell-McCosh, founder of the Awards, said: “It has been wonderful to see how people’s love of marmalade has created a passionate community all around the world. It has been a great honour and joy to welcome so many marmalade makers to my home in Cumbria in celebration of such a well loved preserve, and great fun to see the team at ‘Penrith Goes Orange’ taking the festival to another level with such an innovative and exciting family day out.”

To celebrate their win, Cafe Alf Resco are offering complimentary toast and marmalade every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout March, so that visitors, whatever their age can sample the marvellous artisan entries for themselves.

Kids are actively encouraged to come along and sample an array of orange themed treats and take part in their annual Paddington Bear colouring competition.
