Awadh is the ancient name for present-day Lucknow and the surrounding regions in North India.  “Dastarkhwan" literally means a meticulously laid-out ceremonial dining spread. It is customary in the Awadh region for three generations to sit around and share the Dastarkhwan.

The chefs and gourmet cooks of Awadh invented the dum style of cooking or the art of cooking over a slow fire, which has become synonymous with Lucknow today. Their spreads consisted of elaborate dishes such as kebabs, kormas, biryanis, kaliyas, nahari-kulchas, zarda, sheermal, roomali rotis, and warqi parathas. The richness of Awadh cuisine lies not only in the variety of cuisine but also in the ingredients used like lamb, paneer, and rich spices, which include cardamom and saffron.

Kebabs are the integral part of Awadhi cuisine of which there are several varieties. They are distinct from the kebabs of Punjab in so far as Awadhi kebabs are grilled on a chula and sometimes in a skillet as opposed to grilled in a tandoor in Punjab.

The tasting menu will consist of:

Galawati Kebab with honey yoghurt, rocket cress and radish salad

Classic Kebab from the famous by lanes of lucknow. Lamb mince blended with spices, brown onion paste. Also famous for its soft texture.

Jumbo Prawn Mussallam with Gem lettuce salad, Garlic & Tomato raita

King prawns with ginger, yoghurt, spices and lime

Shami kebab with chilli garlic sauce, sweet and sour carrot salad

Cooked Lamb mince with Chickpeas, whole hot spices (garam masala, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaves, whole ginger, whole garlic and some salt to taste until completely tender.

Tangri Kebab with yakhni pulao and mint chutney

Chargrilled Chicken drumsticks in a tangy marinade of Kashmiri chillies and fenugreek served with speciality pulao rice


A thick creamy Awadhi dessert made with ground rice, milk, sugar and garnished with almond.
