Catherine Phipps

Catherine Phipps writes for the Guardian’s Word of Mouth and is a contributor to BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme.

In her new book "CITRUS: Recipes that celebrate the sour and sweet", Catherine reinvents the flavour-wheel for citrus with over 170 recipes that cover a variety of cuisines; from Middle-Eastern salads to Asian broths, fragrant curries to punchy salsas, citrus even makes is mark on classics curds and contemporary condiments.

There are few foods as versatile and transformative as citrus. For food writer Catherine Phipps, the romance of citrus is wrapped up in the seasons; invoking memories of warm mandarin syrups on drizzle cakes in winter to the sherberty lemon verbena punctuating mousses in summer. From Seville oranges to yuzu, bergamot to pomela, Catherine has explored every corner of the citrus family to uncover exciting savoury and sweet notes to add to your cooking and transform everyday dishes.

Catherine is the author of Citrus (2017), The Pressure Cooker Cookbook (2012) and Chicken (2015). She lives in Ealing, West London, with her partner and children.

'Citrus: Recipes that celebrate the sour and sweet' is published by Quadrille, priced £20.00 Hardback
